About Us
Welcoming Waters. It’s what you’ll find in Prince Edward Island. With fourteen marinas doting some of the most beautiful coastline nature has to offer, PEI offers a safe and friendly boating experience for all ages to enjoy.
The Prince Edward Island Recreational Marinas Association (PEIRMA) was established in December 2006 to showcase all the Island has to offer to recreational boaters. By working together we hope to make your time in our waters simply unforgettable.
The PEIRMA was organized for the following purposes:
a. Develop and manage a marketing plan funded by membership fees, in cooperation
with the Tourism Advisory Council.
b. Manage events and encourage port-to-port co-op promotions.
c. Raise stature and credibility of the industry in relations with government and
funding organizations.
d. Work with regional development corporations and community groups on product
development initiatives so as to develop the Island’s marina network to a state of
market readiness.
e. Look into opportunities for economies of scale in purchasing of common goods
and services, focused on price sensitive commodities such as fuel and insurance.
f. Coordinate events and activities with other like minded organizations, particularly
located around Northumberland Strait.
g. Develop and maintain an active membership relations program designed to 1) expand membership, 2) add an associate category for businesses providing services, and 3) retain membership over time.
h. Manage relations with Island stakeholders, including:
- Island tourism organizations like TAC, TIAPEI and regional tourism
groups
- The fishery community
- Charter fishing boat operators
- Recreational boating operators, e.g. kayak/canoe outfitters
i. Develop and manage relations with external organizations, such as:
-
Proposed Gulf and Northumberland Strait Marinas Association
- Gaspé / Iles de la Madeleine / Baie de Chaleurs association (Le Corridor)
j. To encourage and promote recreational boating around Prince Edward Island.
k. Build Marine tourism for PEI to the point that the Island’s marina network becomes a self-sustaining organization focused on product development, market readiness strategies, member relations external relations and marketing management.
